The Mill That Travelled the Country
Did you know that the windmill at Nové Dvory has preserved the most modern grinding mechanism, and that you will not find any other like this one anywhere in the Czech Republic? Or that there was almost 70 of these so-called „windies“ around Bílovec in the middle of the 19th century?
In case you didn’t know the answers, you will certainly be glad to have the opportunity to visit a guided tour of this beautiful technological sight that makes for a humble dominant of Nové Dvory. We would like to help the mill come alive, and that’s why we have prepared regular guided tours lead by the miller himself. Besides learning many interesting facts, the guided tour of the windmill includes tasting of bread produced by a local eco-farm, a possibility to take a portrait with Picmoch Jeroným – a pixie that became the mill mascot, or an opportunity to try grinding a little bit of flour from the grain with a hand-operated rotary grinder.
This guided tour has now been featured for 3 years in Technotrail. This project presents the most interesting technological attractions all around the Moravian-Silesian Region.
